Cheshti International Seminar, Holds in New Delhi By Farida Nekzad
New Delhi- INDIA 21 February, 2009: (WNA) Two days International Seminar on Khwaja Moin-u-ddin Cheshti was inaugurated today in Jamia Millia Islamia of New Delhi, where speakers presented tribute to the life and personality of this great leader.
A message from the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, was also read to the participants of Seminar.
The seminar was organized by the India-Afghanistan Foundation, focusing on the trait and life of great Sufi Khwaja Moinuddin Chehsti.His wisdom had a key role to bring different religions closer in India -- And his supporters still had been following the path.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, established his Khanaqah in Ajmir City of Rajasthan at the middle of six century. The seminar also aimed to bring the memories of spiritual leader to the followers, had taken placed at that city.
A part from the message of Afghan president, where he said: “Today you are invited in a seminar organized by India Afghanistan Foundation in collaboration with Jamia Millia Islmia. It’s an important step for better recognition of his personality and philosophies.”
In additional to this in his message, Karzai says that the activities of his followers and spiritual values of Cheshtia orders are particularly crucial, in strengthening ties between Afghanistan and India.
At this occasion, I would like to appreciate the efforts of India Afghanistan Foundation and the leaders of Jamia Millia Islamia and other senior officials, to commemorate such a great person, the Afghan president has concluded in his message to the conference.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chehsti was born in the South-Western Nemroz Province of Afghanistan-- Due to his associations with Cheshti Sufies in Western Heart province -- he become a Cheshti believers and followers -- While he settled in Ajmer Sharif, he followed the same path and thought hundred and thousands others as well.
The great spiritual leader passed away in the same city, where his shrine is also located -- Each day thousands of Muslim believers visit the shrine for prays and presenting the respect and honor to him.
The Afghan ambassador to the India, Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen told in his inauguration speech : “The views and thoughts of Khwaja Moinuddin Cheshti and other eminent Sufies can bring guidance for those who are against the human tolerance and dignitary-- And it will be beneficial in our century too ,where fanaticism and in-tolerance constantly threats our region.”
Nine persons having Sufi personalities from academic rings of Afghanistan participated in this two day seminars.
Professor Abdul Bari Rasheed, Director of Afghanistan Sciences Academy was also among the participants to seminar.
He told Wakht News Agency “The seminar was useful and quite productive to keep alive the Islamic feelings, and prestige of Afghanistan from over the last centuries.
Further more he said, it will play a valuable role in strengthening friendship between both countries.
Dr. Karan Singh the president of International Council of Cultural Relations, and Professor Mushir-ul-Hassan the Chairman of Jamia Millia Islamia of Dehli, however also actively contributed and participated in this International Conference.
