Jawzjan 09 March 2008 ( Wakth News Agency ) :A Roshan Telecommunication Company Tower was hit by a rocket last night at Kokal dash village, 5 km away from Fayzabad district center in Jowzjan province, said the officials on Sunday.
General Khalilullah Aminzada, chief of Jawzjan police department confirms the news and said that, an investigation has been initiated, but yet nobody has arrested in this connection.
However, Gowhar Khan the district chief of Fayzabad also confirms the incidence and said "that rocket was fired from the southern direction towards, which is dweller free area and was hit to that Tower".
It is the fourth time over the past two weeks that the anti-government insurgents have been attacking mobile phone towers in Afghanistan since giving ultimatum to shut down signaling during nighttime.
Armed personnel attacked and destroyed on March 1 two signal towers of Roshan in Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
On 6 March Taliban militants attacked another signal tower of Areeba mobile telecommunication services company in southern province of Zabul, destroying a guards room near the tower.
Taliban militants in a blatant warning to mobile companies on Feb. 25 asked telecommunication service providing companies, to stop its operation from 5 p.m. till 7 a.m. in Taliban-held areas, saying Afghan and foreign forces can track down militants through mobile phone signals.
